Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Puyallup, Washington. This position involves supporting a Level II Perinatal Center with a diverse patient demographic, including antepartum, labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care. The role requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care in a busy hospital setting.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, with every other weekend rotation.
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification, fetal monitoring certification (AWHONN or Relias module), and a minimum of 1 year of experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cervical exams, antepartum and labor management, amnio infusion, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IV management, Pitocin, postpartum care, and couplet care.
- Float: Will only float to areas where the candidate is competent; will not float to the START unit.
- Additional Information:
- Unit includes 9 Labor, Delivery, Recovery (LDR) beds; 2 OB Operating Room beds; 2 OB Post-Anesthesia Care Unit beds; NICU beds; Mother/Baby unit; START unit for Perinatal Addiction; OB Emergency Department beds.
- Supports a wide range of patient conditions, including high-risk pregnancies, substance abuse, fetal monitoring, and postpartum care.
- Utilizes EMR systems including EPIC Stork and GE Centricity.
- Medication dispensing via Pyxis; IV pumps from Alaris.
- No Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) on the unit; Surgery Techs are phasing out.
- Supports high-risk deliveries and neonatal attendance with RT 24/7 and hospitalist coverage.
- Orientation includes annual core competencies, medication exams, and unit competency exams before arrival.
