Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Puyallup, Washington. This position involves managing obstetric patients in a Level III Trauma Center with extensive neonatal and maternal care. The role requires providing safe care during active labor, delivery, and postpartum. The nurse will support antepartum, intra-partum, and postpartum patients and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a busy, high-volume facility.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Shift hours are 12 hours, with shifts from 0700-1900 or 1900-0700, in 3-week cycle. The minimum weekly hours are 36.0.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Licensed Nurse license, BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and fetal monitoring certification (AWHONN or Relias module). A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in Labor and Delivery is required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Strong Labor and Delivery (L&D) experience including cervical exams, antepartum and labor management, amnio infusion, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IV therapy, Pitocin, postpartum care, and couplet care. Experience with hospital medication dispensing system (Pyxis) is preferred.
  • Float: Will only float to areas where competence is confirmed; will not float to START unit.
  • Additional Information: The unit cares for patients with diagnoses including hypertension, substance abuse, fetal monitoring, epidurals, and postpartum care. The facility supports a high volume of deliveries and neonatal stability with NICU and Mother/Baby units. Orientation includes facility and unit-specific training, core competencies, and annual skills assessments.
