Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
- Location: Midlothian, Virginia area, near Richmond
- Healthcare Setting: High-acuity Labor & Delivery unit
- Start Date: October 12, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Nursing Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Weekend/Holiday Schedule: Every other weekend and major holidays required
- Call: Up to 24 hours per 6-week period
- Position Type: Travel nursing assignment; local travelers accepted
- Additional Details: May float within Labor & Delivery units in the Richmond area; typical patient ratios are not guaranteed and may vary with staffing needs

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or a compact state
- At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience; 1–2 years preferred, with 3 years strongly preferred
- Recent experience with antepartum, intrapartum, cesarean section, postpartum care, and magnesium sulfate administration
- Hospital nursing experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- Fetal Heart Monitoring certification preferred
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring and fetal heart rate interpretation skills
- Ability to circulate cesarean sections required; ability to scrub or assist with deliveries preferred
- Dysrhythmia examination required
- Experience with Epic and Perinatal Centricity preferred
- Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and emergency response skills
- Ability to provide care across neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations as applicable to the unit
Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities
- Assess, prioritize, plan, implement, and evaluate care for the maternal-fetal dyad and newborn patients
- Provide Registered Nurse care across antepartum, labor, delivery, cesarean, postpartum, and newborn care settings
- Perform fetal heart monitoring, maternal assessments, vaginal examinations, cardiac monitoring, and blood glucose monitoring
- Recognize and respond to obstetrical emergencies, including maternal or fetal deterioration
- Support resuscitation and stabilization of mothers and newborns using appropriate emergency equipment
- Administer medications safely, including magnesium sulfate, according to applicable standards and policies
- Circulate cesarean sections and assist with deliveries as qualified
- Provide breastfeeding support, newborn education, discharge teaching, and follow-up planning
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, neonatal teams, care managers, and other interdisciplinary professionals
- Advocate for patients and families while promoting culturally responsive, inclusive, and relationship-based care
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and use electronic health record systems effectively
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, and professional development activities
- Safely manage patients with language barriers, substance use concerns, chronic conditions affecting pregnancy, and other high-acuity needs
