This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care for laboring, delivering, and postpartum patients in a Level 3 high-risk maternity unit. The position requires confident independent practice with high-risk labor and delivery management, including circulating and recovering C-Section patients.
Job Details
- Location: Not specified (facility operates in a high-risk obstetric setting)
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) from the American Heart Association, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Education/Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, with proficiency in vaginal exams, internal monitor placement, and high-risk obstetric patient care
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Responsibilities include managing high-risk labor and delivery patients, circulating and recovering C-Section cases, titrating medications such as Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, Insulin, and Heparin, and collaborating with ancillary staff including Certified Surgical Techs and Secretaries
- Additional Job Details: Orientation to the unit will be 3 days for travelers. Nurses float to postpartum as needed and are required to read fetal monitor strips accurately. The unit uses Cerner charting system and TEAM scheduling, with every other weekend and as-needed holiday shifts.
