Travel Nursing Job Details

- Shift: Night shift, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Unit: 15-bed Labor & Delivery unit with approximately 8 patients per day
- Patient Population: Adults and neonates
- Medication System: Omnicell
Labor and Delivery RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in hand
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
- AWHONN Beginner certification required
- AWHONN Advanced and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
- Cerner experience preferred but not required
- COVID-19 vaccination required; no exemptions
- Current influenza vaccination required; medical exemptions considered
- Strong communication skills and the ability to use SBAR for clinical handoffs
Travel Labor and Delivery RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive obstetric nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum periods
- Support vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections, forceps and vacuum-assisted deliveries, and high-risk obstetric cases
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring, NSTs, and IUPCs
- Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and obstetric emergencies
- Administer and monitor medications and therapies, including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, terbutaline, antihypertensives, epidural anesthesia, and other IV medications
- Complete postpartum assessments, including fundus, lochia, perineum, reflexes, edema, pain, and wound assessment
- Perform newborn assessments and support thermoregulation, glucose monitoring, metabolic screening, phototherapy, cord care, and identification procedures
- Deliver couplet care in a rooming-in environment and collaborate with families on breastfeeding, newborn care, discharge preparation, and circumcision care
- Educate parents on infant safety, car seat use, feeding, vaccinations, and newborn care at home
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, follow isolation and safety protocols, and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
