Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Albany, Georgia | 17-Week Contract
Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse opportunity in Albany, Georgia, offering acute-care experience, competitive weekly pay, and a supportive obstetric team. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080

- Contract Duration: Approximately 17 weeks

- Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 6:45 a.m.–6:45 p.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Rotating holidays with permanent staff
- Unit Resources: 12 labor beds, 5 antepartum beds, 2 operating rooms, and a 6-bed OB emergency/triage area
- Clinical Volume: Approximately 150–200 births per month
- Documentation: MEDITECH with OB Trace fetal monitoring
- Floating: May float to postpartum as needed
Travel Labor & Delivery RN Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Georgia
- At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Intermediate or higher fetal monitoring/electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) competency
- Ability to meet the assignment's 72-mile radius eligibility requirement
- Strong knowledge of AWHONN-based staffing and patient-care practices
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients experiencing routine and high-risk labor, delivery, and postpartum transitions.
- Care for antepartum patients requiring extended observation or treatment before delivery or discharge.
- Perform maternal and fetal assessments, interpret fetal heart rate patterns, and promptly communicate changes in patient condition.
- Support vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, cerclage procedures, and tubal procedures performed on the unit.
- Collaborate with in-house OB hospitalists, neonatology providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, OB technicians, and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Assist with obstetric emergencies and provide timely interventions consistent with current standards of care.
- Administer medications, initiate and maintain IV therapy, monitor labor progress, and document care accurately in MEDITECH.
- Promote family-centered care in a baby-friendly environment, including support for bonding, education, and breastfeeding with assistance from in-house lactation resources.
- Participate in unit orientation and maintain competency in Labor & Delivery procedures and fetal monitoring.
- Float to postpartum when needed while maintaining safe, professional, and patient-centered care.
