Job Summary:
Postpartum Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position available in the Austin area. This contract role involves working in a 24-bed, Level IV maternal and Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), providing specialized postpartum and antepartum care. The assignment offers an opportunity to contribute to a high-volume birthing center with approximately 12,000 annual births, requiring professional expertise in postpartum nursing and related procedures.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS certification, American Heart Association (AHA) certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Advanced Provider certification, 1 year of experience in post partum or related inpatient nursing.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous labor and delivery (L&D) or antepartum experience, ability to demonstrate teamwork-oriented attitude, good communication skills.
- Patient Ratios: Typically 3:1 and 4:1, with occasional 2:1 depending on patient acuity.
- Type of equipment: Electronic Medical Records (EMR) with Meditech systems and CPN.
- Typical procedures performed: Non-stress tests, hyperemesis management, insulin, magnesium, and heparin drips.
- Dress code: Scrub color must be navy blue.
- Unit information:
- Location: 12221 North MOPAC Expressway, Austin, Texas, 78758
- Number of beds: 24
- Staff: 26, including 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, and 1 clerk during day shifts, no PCTs at night.
- Skills most recruited for include travel RNs, local CNAs, and sitters.
- Typical hiring profile includes candidates with previous L&D or antepartum experience.
- No permanent positions available on the unit.
