Opportunity:
RN - Interventional Radiology
Job Details:
• Work in a department staffed 24/7 treating all adult patients, no pediatrics
• Average patient volume of 40-50 patients per day
• General IR procedures include: kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, central lines/PICCs/ports, fistulograms, IVC filters, nephrostomy tubes, nephroureteral stents, peripheral leg cases, coil embolization, thoracentesis/paracentesis, CT biopsies, drains, and cryos
• Neuro IR procedures include: strokes, embolization, DSA, WADA test, and spinal angios
• AAA intervention experience preferred
• Must have IR and neuro experience for basic to complex cases including bleeds, TIPS, Y-90, carotid stenting, and strokes
• Administer sedation unless anesthesia is involved; monitor and chart patient care
• Weekday on-call requirement: 1 call shift per week (Monday–Thursday), end of shift until following morning at 7:00 AM
• Weekend on-call requirement: once every 5th or 6th weekend (Friday–Sunday), end of shift Friday until Monday at 7:00 AM
• On-call response time: 30 minutes
• Travelers will only take Neuro call if they have Neuro experience; otherwise assigned General IR call only
• General IR shift times: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM; Neuro shift times: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
• Manager open to altering shift schedule (e.g., four 10-hour shifts or two 8-hour and two 12-hour shifts)
• No floating to other units
• Orientation with a preceptor for 1-2 weeks with check-off required
• Will accept travelers with 1 year of experience and first-time travelers
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• EMR: EPIC experience preferred
• IV pumps: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Pyxis; PACS: Change Healthcare
• Equipment includes Siemens and GE imaging systems (experience preferred), MedRad injector, IVUS, GE Ultrasound, Laser, Bovie, and Angiojet
• Scrubs provided by facility
• Free parking available in parking structure with badge access
Facility:
This large healthcare facility is a Level III Trauma Center and Level III NICU with Magnet Designation and Comprehensive Stroke Center status. With 933 beds, the facility offers a wide range of advanced medical services and is supported by respiratory therapy, hospitalist coverage, and CNA/transport staff available 24/7. The Interventional Radiology department is well-staffed with two coordinators, two lead technologists, and multiple tech specialists, ensuring strong support for clinical staff.
