Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology RN with an active OR RN license and at least two years of relevant critical care, cath lab, or IR experience.
Details
- Provides specialized nursing care for patients undergoing invasive interventional procedures such as angiography, embolization, and cardiac catheterization
- Works in the Interventional Radiology department within a hospital setting
- May function in circulator, scrub, monitor, or moderate sedation roles depending on assignment
- Schedule consists of three 10-hour day shifts per week (0700-1730)
- May be required to take call for the Interventional Unit as needed
Requirements
- Active RN license in the State of Oregon required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required
- IV certification required
- Minimum two years of experience required
- At least one year of experience in critical care, emergency, cath lab, or IR required
- Three years of experience in Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab preferred
- Conscious sedation training and monitor role experience preferred
- RCIS or NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program required, BSN preferred
- Bilingual English-Spanish speaking preferred
Additional Information
- Administers medications including anticoagulants, vasoactive agents, contrast, and emergency drugs
- Acts as patient advocate and anticipates needs of the interventionalist during procedures
- Recognizes and responds rapidly to complications such as arrhythmia, bleeding, contrast reaction, or cardiac arrest
- Collaborates with radiology technologists and physicians to manage contrast allergies and sensitivities
- When assigned to moderate sedation, monitors vital signs, hemodynamics, and level of consciousness per protocol
- When assigned to the scrub role, prepares sterile instruments and assists physicians during catheter-based procedures
- When assigned to the monitor role, records hemodynamic data and documents procedural events and supply usage
- Assists with patient preparation, positioning, and verification processes including timeouts
- Performs sheath pulls and vascular access management as needed
- Supports department operations including supply management, room turnover, and equipment maintenance
- Provides culturally competent care across diverse patient populations
