    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

    Location

    Winston-Salem, NC | Intermediate Care / Stepdown Unit

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Nights (18:45–07:15) | Expected 36 or 48 hours per week | Every other weekend required

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity IMC/PCU/Stepdown environment that functions similarly to an ICU, managing a patient ratio of 1:3–4
    • Monitor, interpret, and manage dysrhythmias using bedside and remote telemetry systems; must be able to recognize and treat dysrhythmias independently
    • Titrate vasoactive drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Neo; manage arterial lines and IV insulin protocols
    • Care for a diverse patient population including post-rapid response, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, GI bleeds, withdrawal, and post-operative patients (GYN, GU, GI, thoracotomy, neuro, ortho); patient ages range from adolescent to geriatric
    • Manage advanced equipment including A-lines, BIPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, chest tubes, and tracheostomies (no ventilators on unit)
    • Float as needed to a sister ICCU unit; document using Epic and manage medications via Pyxis
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN license in NC or a Compact state (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
    • Minimum 2 years of RN experience; first-time travelers accepted
    • ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
    • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
    • Demonstrated experience with arterial lines, titrating vasoactive drips, central line care, PICC line management, heparin protocols, blood product administration, chest tubes, tracheostomy management, BIPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and isolation precautions
    • Local candidates (within 50 miles of the facility) are welcome; a lower rate applies
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior experience in a PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown setting with high-acuity patient populations
    • Familiarity with rapid response team protocols and conscious sedation
    • Experience with pre/post OB patients with complications, including Pitocin administration
    • Proficiency with Epic EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
