Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed post-surgical stepdown unit specializing in colorectal and major abdominal surgeries, including colectomy, bowel resection, ostomy, and hernia repair. Care for patients undergoing urological procedures (TURP, kidney stones, prostatectomy), orthopedic surgery (hip/ankle fractures, amputations), and plastic surgery (debridements).

Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed post-surgical stepdown unit specializing in colorectal and major abdominal surgeries, including colectomy, bowel resection, ostomy, and hernia repair
Care for patients undergoing urological procedures (TURP, kidney stones, prostatectomy), orthopedic surgery (hip/ankle fractures, amputations), and plastic surgery (debridements)
Manage specialty wound care and surgical drains in a high-acuity stepdown environment
Maintain a 1:6 nurse-to-patient staffing ratio while applying critical thinking and clinical expertise
Participate in every-other-weekend rotation and holiday rotation as required
Float as needed to other post-surgical floors and med-surg inpatient units
Required Qualifications
Active Kansas RN license or multistate compact license required; no disciplinary actions or license hits permitted
AHA BLS certification required at time of submission
Minimum 1 year of progressive care or stepdown experience required
ADN or BSN degree
No first-time travelers; prior travel nursing experience required
Local candidates are welcome and accepted at the standard rate (no radius rule applies)
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with Epic EMR (test-out option available)
Background in surgical, colorectal, urological, or orthopedic patient populations
Willingness to commit to a longer contract of 26–51 weeks (longer contracts given priority consideration)
