Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to perform direct patient care activities for all age groups, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
- Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers and maintain professional accountability
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information at all times
- Function within the scope of nursing practice consistent with established state guidelines and facility standards
- Perform physical duties including standing and walking for most of the shift, lifting and pushing patients on stretchers and in wheelchairs, and pushing, pulling, and gripping up to 50 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently hold a Missouri RN license
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from AHA only — required prior to start
- TNCC certification — required prior to start
- NIHSS — may be submitted without, but must be obtained prior to start date
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Telemetry, Stepdown, or Emergency Department (Level 3, Level 4, or Critical Access) — must be reflected on resume
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in trauma and/or pediatric emergency care
- Background in high-volume environments (200+ patients per day) and high-acuity settings
- Familiarity with EPIC EMR
- Determined, decisive, and flexible personality well-suited for a busy urban trauma environment
