Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 12-Hour Shifts | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 23-bed intermediate care unit serving patients with diagnoses including stroke, cardiac conditions, sepsis, and post-surgical needs
- Titrate IV drips including heparin, nitroglycerin, cardizem, levophed, cardene, and precedex, among others
- Perform and manage tracheostomy care and assist with respiratory equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
- Interpret cardiac telemetry strips independently; monitor techs observe rhythms and rates but nurses are responsible for strip interpretation
- Participate in weekend rotation based on unit needs and an every-other-holiday schedule
- Float throughout the facility as needed, excluding the ER and OB departments
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (or confirmed application in progress)
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Demonstrated experience with tracheostomy care, BiPAP, stroke care, and IV drip titration
- Must pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
- Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate adjustment
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in an intermediate care, PCU, or stepdown unit setting
- Familiarity with a broad range of titratable drips in a monitored care environment
- Experience working with CNAs and within team-based nursing models
