RN (Registered Nurse) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Location

Rockford, IL | Intermediate Care Unit

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 12-Hour Shifts | Days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) and Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 23-bed Intermediate Care Unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3–4, managing diagnoses including stroke, cardiac conditions, sepsis, and surgical cases
• Perform IV drip titration for medications including heparin, nitroglycerin, cardizem, levophed, cardene, and precedex
• Provide tracheostomy care and manage patients on respiratory support equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Interpret cardiac telemetry strips independently; monitor techs observe rhythms and rates but nurses are responsible for strip interpretation
• Participate in weekend rotation and holiday rotation as determined by unit needs
• Float throughout the facility as needed, excluding the ER and OB departments

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Experience with tracheostomy care, BiPAP, stroke care, and IV drip titration
• Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in an intermediate care, PCU, or stepdown unit setting
• Familiarity with a wide range of titratable drips in a monitored care environment
• Experience working alongside CNAs and monitor technicians in a collaborative team structure
