    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – Stroke/Neuro PCU (IMC/Stepdown)

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts | 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM | Weekend rotation required (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block) | Must work at least one holiday per 13-week contract

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care in a telemetry PCU setting specializing in stroke, neurology, and hospitalist medicine patients on a Joint Commission certified primary stroke center unit
    • Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response interventions
    • Administer IV therapy, blood products, and cardiac drips (no titration); manage central and peripheral line care and phlebotomy
    • Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
    • Maintain isolation precautions and operate within telemetry and stepdown unit environments; remote telemetry monitoring is conducted on-unit
    • Float within skillset to other units as needed
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
    • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
    • Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records required
    • Neuro PCU clinical experience required
    • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are considered local and are generally not accepted; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior travel nursing experience preferred, though first-time travelers will be considered
    • Experience managing IV drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Lidocaine, and Ketamine
    • Experience across PCU, IMC, and stepdown unit settings
