    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Surgical PCU)

    Contract | Nights | 4x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Up to 26 weeks available

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care in a surgical progressive care unit functioning as a stepdown from the General Surgical ICU, including bariatric specialty and backup support to the trauma unit
    • Manage ventilator care for chronic trach patients (non-ICU level) and provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, and BiPAP
    • Administer IV therapy, blood products, and cardiac drips (no titration) including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, and others; manage central and peripheral line care
    • Perform cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, dysrhythmia recognition and management in a remote telemetry environment
    • Activate and participate in Rapid Response and Code team events; maintain isolation precautions as required
    • Float within skillset to comparable PCU, DOU, IMC, and stepdown units as needed
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Virginia State RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending license considered only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
    • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
    • Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
    • Demonstrated experience with ventilator care for chronic trach patients
    • Experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown nursing environment with telemetry monitoring skills
    • Competency with surgical equipment including chest tubes, surgical drains, PICC lines, ortho equipment, and endoscopic tools
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior travel nursing experience; first-time travelers are accepted
    • Familiarity with bariatric or trauma patient populations
    • Experience managing low-dose vasoactive drips such as dopamine, dobutamine, and Ketamine in a stepdown setting
