Travel Nurse RN - Intermediate Care in Randallstown, MD

Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a 40-bed PCU/Stepdown unit with common diagnoses including CHF, COPD, MI, sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleed, ETOH withdrawal, renal failure, stroke, and altered mental status. Perform telemetry interpretation and rhythm documentation using portable telemetry monitoring; manage non-titratable cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Diltiazem/Cardizem, and Lasix, as well as Heparin drip nursing protocol.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a 40-bed PCU/Stepdown unit with common diagnoses including CHF, COPD, MI, sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleed, ETOH withdrawal, renal failure, stroke, and altered mental status
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4, with the expectation of 1:5 based on patient acuity and downgrades; ratio may be 1:6 when floated to a non-telemetry Med-Surg unit
• Perform telemetry interpretation and rhythm documentation using portable telemetry monitoring; manage non-titratable cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Diltiazem/Cardizem, and Lasix, as well as Heparin drip nursing protocol
• Manage chest tubes using Emerson/Pleur-Evac systems and support peritoneal dialysis using the Amia PD System
• Respond as recorder and timekeeper during Code Team activations
• Float within the hospital within scope to meet facility needs, including to non-telemetry Med-Surg units; document all care using Cerner iVIEW

Required Qualifications

• Valid Maryland RN license or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown or Med-Surg/Telemetry experience required
• ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• Prophecy Relias Advanced EKG assessment required
• 4 hours of annual stroke continuing education required
• Strong EKG interpretation skills; experience managing non-titratable cardiac drips, CVA patients, and chest tube management required
• Local candidates are welcome and accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with peritoneal dialysis and the Amia PD System
• Familiarity with Heparin drip nursing protocols and Code Team participation
• Prior experience on a Stroke Certified unit
• Proficiency with Cerner iVIEW electronic health records
