    Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required; every other holiday rotation

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a 20-bed Stepdown unit with a 3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing a wide range of complex medical conditions including COPD, CHF, DKA, sepsis, renal conditions, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, and neuro/surgical/cardiac cases
    • Manage and care for patients requiring advanced airway support including BiPAP, CPAP, face mask ventilation, tracheostomies, and trached patients on ventilators
    • Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips including Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Heparin, and low-dose or infrequently titrated vasopressors
    • Monitor and manage patients with chest tubes, G-tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, and central lines
    • Confirm telemetry strip interpretations in collaboration with on-unit telemetry technicians using Philips bedside monitors
    • Float as needed to ICU, other Stepdown units, or General Med floors based on staffing needs, taking the appropriate assignment for the level of care
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
    • BLS certification required
    • Minimum of ICU or Intermediate/Stepdown experience with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 3:1 or 2:1 — progressive care or telemetry-only experience is not sufficient
    • Tracheostomy and ventilator experience required
    • Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
    • Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate adjustment
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • ACLS certification (recommended)
    • Experience titrating vasoactive drips in a high-acuity intermediate or ICU setting
    • Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records
    • Extensive ICU background (preferred for potential float assignments to ICU)
