Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio on a 55-bed unit serving primarily adult patients
Monitor and manage patients with common diagnoses including CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, subdural hematoma, and generalized weakness
Administer and manage common drips and medications including PCA pumps, Cardizem, and insulin
Perform telemetry monitoring and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
Conduct hourly rounding and maintain a strong focus on patient responsiveness and experience
Float to medical-surgical areas as needed based on unit census and staffing needs
Required Qualifications
Active RN licensure in good standing
Current ACLS and BLS certifications
Telemetry competency
Proficiency with EPIC EMR
Experience with Alaris IV pumps
Ability to pass a required open-book skills examination with a score of 90% or higher during orientation
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or intermediate care setting
Demonstrated ability to manage a high-acuity patient load efficiently and collaboratively within a team-oriented unit
