Registered Nurse – Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit (IMC/PCU)

Contract (13 weeks, extension possible) | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Weekdays with some weekends | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit setting with varying patient acuity levels, including patients who may be classified as Progressive Care or Telemetry in larger facilities
- Maintain a standard patient ratio of 1:4, with flexibility to 1:5 during emergencies
- Perform IV insertions and manage telemetry monitoring, including reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips
- Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner using Cerner EMR
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in West Virginia or a valid Compact license (pending license accepted at time of submission)
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year in a Medical/Surgical or Telemetry setting and 2 years in a Stepdown unit
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Proficiency in IV insertion and telemetry monitoring, including strip reading
- Ability to use Cerner EMR; completion of required Cerner modules prior to start date
- Permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility (candidates between 75–100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for patients with varying acuity levels, including Progressive Care and Telemetry patients
- Familiarity with weekend block scheduling (Friday–Sunday or Saturday–Monday)
- Prior travel nursing experience, though not required
