Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit (IMC/PCU/Telemetry)

Schedule / Job Type
Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Night Shifts | Every third weekend; every other holiday
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Step Down / PCU / Telemetry setting, managing a patient population that includes sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia, and surgical patients (urology, abdominal, ortho)
- Initiate and titrate drips including insulin, heparin, and cardiac medications
- Perform telemetry interpretation; travelers will be required to pass telemetry competency tests
- Document and chart using Epic EMR system; completion of a checkoff class will be required
- Float within skillset as first to float; potential cross-campus float to nearby Indiana campuses with a minimum 2-hour notice provided
- May be required to precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
Required Qualifications
- Active, current RN Compact License required
- AHA BLS certification required
- AHA ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of Step Down / PCU experience
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required
- Recent Epic EMR experience required
- Must not reside within 40 miles of the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, CBI, and blood product administration
- Experience with stable home vents, continuous BiPap, and neutropenic precautions
- Familiarity with stable drip management (e.g., Lasix, Protonix)
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills; ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
