Contract | Travel | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 13-Week Assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 25-bed Progressive Care Unit with a standard ratio of 4:1, flexing to 5:1 as needed
- Manage stroke patients, patients on cardiac drips, and those requiring continuous BiPAP support
- Care for post-procedure patients and monitor patients via telemetry and bedside monitoring equipment
- Assist with or support emergent thoracentesis procedures as indicated
- Utilize BiPAP, AirVO, restraints, and seizure precaution protocols in accordance with unit guidelines
- Document and manage patient care using the Meditech EMR system
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Texas (or compact license eligibility)
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of PCU, Stepdown, or IMC nursing experience
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous preceptor experience in a PCU or similar acute care setting
- Charge nurse experience
- Familiarity with Meditech EMR
