Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12-Hour Shifts) | Expected 36 hours/week | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 41-bed progressive care trauma/telemetry unit primarily serving adult patients recovering from traumatic injuries, including those related to gunshot wounds, penetrating injuries, assaults, motor vehicle crashes, and falls
- Monitor hemodynamically stable patients utilizing telemetry equipment capable of monitoring up to 14 patients simultaneously
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, flexing to 1:5 as needed based on census
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, Radiology, Social Services, and Phlebotomy
- Complete all required pre-assignment testing, modules, and annual compliance requirements within designated timeframes
- Float to other units and/or campuses as requested based on census needs, limited to areas where competencies have been demonstrated and documented
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- AHA ACLS certification required
- AHA BCLS (BLS) certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- Telemetry (TELE) competency required
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a PCU/progressive care or equivalent unit
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
- Medication assessment/test required prior to assignment
- Must commit to 6 weekend shifts per every 6-week schedule
- Must live at least 50 miles from the contracted facility to be eligible (night shift progressive care applicants); candidates between 50–99.9 miles may be subject to a bill rate adjustment
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 2+ years of PCU/progressive care or stepdown experience preferred for first-time travelers
- Experience caring for surgical trauma patients, including those with penetrating injuries or injuries resulting from motor vehicle crashes or falls
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring in a high-acuity progressive care environment
