    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Cardiac Progressive Care)

    Location

    Burlington, NC | Intermediate Care / Progressive Care Unit

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Weekend rotation required; holidays as needed

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct nursing care on a 30-bed private-room Cardiac Medical Progressive Care unit operating 24/7, with rooms remotely monitored by a Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department
    • Manage a primary cardiac patient population including Congestive Heart Failure, Acute Coronary Syndrome, arrhythmias, pre- and post-cardiac catheterization (with and without intervention), rule-out myocardial infarction, syncope, and pacemaker placement
    • Support a secondary respiratory patient population including COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP-dependent patients
    • Perform interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, peripheral and PICC line care, procedural sedation administration, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, chest tube management (Emerson, Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy management
    • Participate in a 6-week self-assisted scheduling process through Optilink, with assignments distributed based on departmental need, patient work intensity, skill mix, and previous assignments
    • Utilize Rapid Response Teams as appropriate and collaborate with Nurse Assistants (available 24/7) and RN secretary support (7:00 AM – 11:00 PM)
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN license — must be in hand at time of submission
    • Minimum 2 years of Cardiac PCU experience required
    • Comfort with patient ratios of 1:5 (general) and 1:4 (drips/BiPAP) required
    • BLS and ACLS certifications required
    • EPIC EMR experience required
    • Must pass a compliance EKG exam (2 attempts allowed, required for all RNs regardless of specialty)
    • Current driver's license required to verify address
    • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
    • No open background check cases permitted; third-party education verification required
    • Requested time off must be submitted with the application — no post-submission RTO accepted
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Previous Charge RN experience preferred
    • NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
    • Experience utilizing Rapid Response Teams preferred
