Job TitleRegistered Nurse - IMC/PCU/Stepdown | 12-Hour Days

Schedule / Job TypeContract | Full-Time | Days | 12-Hour Shifts | Onsite - Alternating schedule of 4 days one week and 3 days the next (mandatory); weekend rotation every other weekend; expected to work 2 of 3 major holidays; no on-call required
Key Responsibilities- Provide PCU-level nursing care for patients presenting with CVA and TIA diagnoses in a 6-bed stepdown unit
- Manage drip titration including Levophed, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin infusions
- Perform and manage central venous line (CVL) care, arterial lines, Foley catheter management, and tube feedings via NGT or PEG
- Conduct and document neurological assessments using NIHSS
- Maintain a patient ratio of 1:3; may float to Stepdown and Med/Surg units as needed
- Adhere to facility professionalism standards, including no cell phone or earbud use in patient care areas
Required Qualifications- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a permanent staff RN in acute care
- Must pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to start
- Travelers previously employed as permanent staff at this facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience with drip titration, particularly Levophed
- Proficiency with Meditech Expanse EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing
- Prior experience with CVL placement and management, arterial lines, and diabetes management
- Familiarity with caring for CVA and TIA patient populations in a stepdown or PCU setting
