Travel RN – Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) | Night Shift

Key Responsibilities
- Provide stepdown-level nursing care to a primary population of CV surgery and vascular surgery patients, including those post open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomy
- Manage overflow medical cardiology patients presenting with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, and related diagnoses
- Perform and oversee epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, and IV Glucommander protocols
- Administer and monitor cardiac drips including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
- Maintain a 1:5 patient ratio in a 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit utilizing Cerner EMR and Baxter IV/CADD epidural pumps
- Float as needed to stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding units per staffing needs
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Stepdown experience is required — candidates without this will not be considered
- Telemetry experience is required — candidates without this will not be considered
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Ability to meet weekend requirements: minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday, day or night) per 6-week schedule period
- Flexibility to work holidays
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience within the past year with CV surgery and vascular surgery populations, including open heart surgery, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, and fem-pop bypass
- CVICU background
- Team-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced clinical environment
