Job TitleRegistered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
LocationAsheville, NC | Progressive Care Unit / Stepdown
Schedule / Job TypeContract | Travel | Days | 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM | 13-Week Assignment | Every other weekend required
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care on a 44-bed Progressive Care Unit with a 4:1 patient ratio (up to 5:1 when stretched)
- Perform neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, and TLSO brace management
- Manage chest tubes, PCA pumps, IV infusions, lumbar drains, and feeding tube placement
- Administer blood transfusions and oversee tracheostomy care
- Utilize Cerner EMR for documentation and patient management
- Float to stepdown and med-surg units as needed
Required Qualifications- Active RN license (must meet state requirements for North Carolina)
- ACLS certification required
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Neuro and trauma care experience required - candidates without this experience will not be considered
Preferred Experience / Skills- Strong background in neuro and trauma care within a PCU or stepdown setting
- Experience with patient lifts, Skylift equipment, and IV pump management
- Team-oriented, patient-focused approach to care delivery
