Travel Nurse RN - Intermediate Care in Asheville, NC

Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed Cardiac Step-Down unit managing patients with CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-procedure cardiac patients (cath/stent, pacer/ICD/ablation). Operate and monitor unit equipment including Zoll monitors, Baxter infusion pumps, bladder scanners, and lift equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed Cardiac Step-Down unit managing patients with CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-procedure cardiac patients (cath/stent, pacer/ICD/ablation)
• Administer and titrate cardiac IV medications including nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, and diuretics
• Operate and monitor unit equipment including Zoll monitors, Baxter infusion pumps, bladder scanners, and lift equipment
• Document patient care accurately using Cerner EMR
• Perform and assist with bedside cardioversion as needed
• Float to MedSurg, Stepdown, and ER holding units as assigned; maintain a patient ratio of 1:4 (stretch to 1:5)

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of stepdown or progressive care nursing experience
• Telemetry experience required
• Demonstrated experience with titratable and cardiac IV medications
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with prostacyclin therapies (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
• Relief charge nurse experience
