Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / Telemetry IMC – Wisconsin
Start Date: November 9, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00am-7:30pm, Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. Day/Evening rotation.
Highlights:
- Work in both IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units at a Magnet-designated, nationally ranked teaching hospital
- Care for diverse patient populations including thoracic surgery, cardiac stepdown, and hospitalist patients
- 3:1 patient ratio across all shifts with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Epic charting system with robust clinical resources and evidence-based nursing practice integration
- Engage with complex procedures including chest tube management, cardiac telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, and transplant care
- Opportunity to work with thoracic surgical patients including esophagectomies, lung volume reduction surgery, wedge resections, and lobectomies
Requirements:
- Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
- Minimum 2 years acute care experience in telemetry, oncology, cardiac, or PCU/IMC/stepdown settings within the last 3 years
- Ventilator and transplant experience required
- ICU or IMC and surgical post-op experience required
- Proficiency with Epic charting system required
- Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Must pass comprehensive telemetry examination prior to start (80% passing score required with 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms and 3rd degree heart blocks)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
Essential Skills:
- Cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Central line, PICC line, and arterial line management
- Blood product administration and heparin protocols
- Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
- BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula management
- Titration of vasoactive drips and insulin protocols
- Pre/post cardiac surgery and cardiac cath care
- Wound care/wound vac experience
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
