Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care on a 21-bed PCU/mixed acuity unit with an average census of 19, managing patient populations including GI, liver cirrhosis, CIWA, general medical, IV drug use, and occasional trach patients
  • Maintain RN patient ratios of 1:5, with acuity-based assignments up to 1:6 (no PCU patients on 1:6 assignments); rotate assignments equitably among staff
  • Perform and manage clinical skills including amiodarone fixed rate infusions, heparin drips, PCA pumps, high-flow oxygen, chest tube management, BiPAP, wound vacs, JP drains, IV starts, and venipunctures
  • Draw daily and routine labs; call consults independently during night shift
  • Perform wound care including canister changes for wound vacs and wet-to-dry dressings when wound vac therapy is not available on nights
  • Utilize Cerner EMR, Plum ICU Medical IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems; float to mixed acuity or med-surg floors as needed (1:5-1:6 ratio)
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care experience in Med-Surg Telemetry with PCU float experience
  • BLS certification required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • CPI certification required
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Trach care experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with BiPAP management, chest tube management, and wound vac therapy
  • Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Omnicell medication dispensing
