Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed PCU/Stepdown unit managing patients with chest pain, cardiac diagnoses, post-PCI care, and general medical conditions
  • Maintain patient ratios of 1:5, occasionally 1:6, delivering high-quality nursing care across a mixed-acuity population
  • Perform IV starts, tube management (chest tubes, JP drains, hemovacs), oral care, dressing changes, wound care, and administration of drips including CIWA and COWS protocols
  • Utilize Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitoring systems
  • Float within scope of practice to other mixed-acuity units as needed
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary support team including PCA/CNA, HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, RT (24/7), and hospitalist (24/7)
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Kentucky or compact state eligibility
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification required (CPI provided during orientation if needed)
  • Proficiency in IV starts, drip management, tube management, and wound care
  • Experience with Cerner EMR preferred; must be comfortable with electronic documentation
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Prior PCU, stepdown, or IMC nursing experience
  • Familiarity with Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitoring systems
  • Experience managing cardiac diagnoses and post-PCI patients
