# Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Progressive Care / Step-Down Unit – Alaska
Start Date: September 15, 2026
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 13-week assignment, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, day shift. Patient ratio of 3:1. Every other weekend rotation required (4 weekend shifts per month).
Highlights:
- 19-bed high-acuity progressive care unit serving patients requiring step-down level monitoring and intervention
- Comprehensive case mix including cardiac monitoring, tracheostomy care, continuous BiPap/ventilator support, titratable drips, chest tubes, and alcohol/drug withdrawal management
- State-of-the-art equipment including bedside monitors, Alaris IV pumps, heated high-flow oxygen, BiPap, and more
- Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC
- Collaborative team environment with charge RN support and interprofessional collaboration
- Float rotation may include cardiac surgery IMC, medical telemetry, medical-surgical, and orthopedic-neurology units
Requirements:
- Active, permanent Alaska RN license required at time of submission (temporary licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of step-down ICU/IMC/PCU experience required
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry/cardiac monitoring experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIH-SS) certifications required
- Alaska RN fingerprinting must be completed during onboarding process
- Preferred: Experience with tracheostomy patients requiring continuous BiPap or long-term ventilator support, titratable drips (dopamine, dobutamine, nitroglycerin, cardene, ketamine, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone), and CIWA assessments for withdrawal management
