Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), 36 or 48 hours per week available. Minimum of 3 weekend shifts required every six weeks. No on-call requirement.
Highlights:
- Specialized neuro progressive care unit with 24-bed capacity and 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Comprehensive neurological patient population including CVA, traumatic brain injury, craniotomy, aneurysm repair, and spinal cord injury
- Epic charting system with 32 hours of paid orientation including computer training and unit-specific orientation
- Contract lengths from 16 weeks up to February 27, 2027 available
- Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- Float opportunities to other intermediate care areas and critical care units for expanded experience
Requirements:
- Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required; neuro stepdown or progressive care experience strongly preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers will not be considered)
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Demonstrated proficiency in titrating vasoactive drips including Levophed
- Strong clinical skills including telemetry interpretation, dysrhythmia management, central line care, ventilator management, and arterial blood gas interpretation
- Experience with neurological conditions: CVA, traumatic brain injury, craniotomy, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury, and post-neurosurgery care
- Competency in cardiac monitoring, IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, PCA management, and thrombolytic agents
- Respiratory care skills: BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and chest tube management
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start date
- Adherence to attendance policy is strictly enforced
Preferred Qualifications:
- CCRN, TNCC, or CPI certification
- Charge nurse experience
- ICP monitoring and conscious sedation experience
- Port access and phlebotomy skills
