Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members on a 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg unit with a 6:1 patient ratio
  • Perform and maintain competency in IV starts, basic wound care, surgical drain management, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
  • Utilize unit equipment including IV pumps, telemetry monitors, continuous pulse ox machines, PCA pumps, EKG machines, feeding pumps, SCDs, and bladder scanners
  • Document accurately using the Meditech electronic documentation system
  • Conduct bedside shift reports and actively involve patients and family members in their plan of care
  • Float to other units as needed per facility policy; contract labor is first to float by rotation when multiple contract staff are scheduled
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN license (must be valid for the state of Tennessee)
  • BLS certification (required)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • Ability to prioritize care and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms) required as dress code
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Med/Surg or PCU/Stepdown/IMC background strongly preferred
  • Experience with Meditech documentation system
  • Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and neuro patient populations
