Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide progressive care nursing for post-operative open heart and cardiothoracic surgical patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring in a 29-bed unit
  • Assist with, manage, and support removal of chest tubes; maintain and monitor central lines
  • Operate and manage external and internal pacemakers and wound vacs
  • Accept Med/Surg overflow patients as unit census requires
  • Float within scope of practice to meet facility needs as directed
  • Maintain a 4:1 patient ratio in accordance with unit standards
Required Qualifications
  • Active West Virginia RN license or Compact RN license required at time of submission
  • BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Demonstrated experience with chest tube insertion assistance, management, and removal
  • Central line experience required; external/internal pacemaker and wound vac experience required
  • COVID-19 vaccination required; medical/religious exemptions considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Must have a permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates residing between 75-100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Prior experience in an open heart or cardiothoracic progressive care or step-down setting
  • Familiarity with Cerner electronic health records charting system
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule including blocked schedule arrangements
