Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU at a Level III Trauma Center, managing high-acuity adult patients with diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, DKA, GI bleed, renal failure, cardiogenic shock, and substance abuse/overdose
Maintain RN-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 in the ICU setting, adjusting to 1:4 or 1:5 when floating to Medical/Surgical units
Float to Medical/Surgical units as needed, managing up to 4–5 patients per assignment
Read and interpret telemetry strips accurately in both ICU and float assignments
Document patient care accurately and efficiently using the EPIC electronic medical records system
Collaborate with attending physicians and residents who are present in the ICU 24 hours per day
Required Qualifications
Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum of 2 years of continuous adult MICU experience
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Willingness and ability to float to Medical/Surgical units as required
Preferred Experience / Skills
2+ years of continuous experience in a single MICU setting
Prior experience with EPIC EMR
Familiarity with a wide range of adult critical care diagnoses including cardiogenic shock and respiratory failure
