Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU at a Level III Trauma Center, managing high-acuity adult patients with diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, GI bleed, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and substance abuse/overdose
Maintain RN-to-patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1 for high-acuity ICU patients, with ratios of 1:4 or 1:5 when floating to Medical/Surgical units
Float to Medical/Surgical units as needed, managing up to 4–5 patients per assignment
Accurately read and interpret telemetry strips to support patient monitoring and safety
Document all patient care activities using the EPIC electronic medical records system
Collaborate with attending physicians and residents who are present in the ICU 24 hours per day
Required Qualifications
Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum of 2 years of continuous adult MICU/ICU experience in a single location
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Current AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Willingness and ability to float to Medical/Surgical units as required
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with EPIC EMR charting system
Prior experience in a large community hospital or Level III Trauma Center setting
Familiarity with a broad adult patient population across multiple acuity levels
