Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 30-bed ICU/Trauma ICU setting with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1–2
- Manage complex trauma, neuro/stroke, and head injury patients; experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies is required
- Titrate vasopressor and sedation drips as ordered by the intensivist team
- Interpret cardiac monitor strips (GE monitors); unit secretary will run strips but RN must interpret
- Operate and monitor ventilator equipment, including Hamilton vents, in coordination with assigned Respiratory Therapy staff
- Float as needed to PCU, CICU, telemetry, or med-surg units; CICU assignments will involve ICU-level patients
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in California
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2–3 years of ICU/Trauma ICU specialty experience
- Experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies required; candidates without this experience must have documented experience with post-tPA patients
- Must pass an onsite proctored Dysrhythmia Test on day one (pass/fail)
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous travel nursing experience, particularly at larger, fast-paced facilities
- PALS certification preferred; will be required if assignment extends beyond 6 months
- Experience with trauma patient populations and robust interventional radiology programs
