Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Medical ICU with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses such as sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, AKI, ETOH withdrawal, and overdose
Interpret EKG strips and monitor patients using telemetry; responsible for reading and interpreting cardiac monitor strips independently
Manage and titrate a wide variety of vasoactive and cardioactive drips per physician-outlined parameters
Provide advanced care for ventilated patients, including management of arterial lines and central lines
Collaborate with intensivists, tele-medicine intensivist support, charge RNs, house supervisors, and patient care technicians across all shifts
Float to lower levels of care as needed, assuming adjusted patient ratios (3:1 on stepdown, 4:1 on general med)
Required Qualifications
Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
Proficiency in EKG strip interpretation
Experience with arterial lines, central lines, and care of the ventilated patient
Advanced knowledge in titrating vasopressors and cardioactive medications
Ability to pass a drug screen; must comply with a drug-free campus policy
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior travel nursing experience in an ICU or MICU setting
Familiarity with Epic electronic health records
Experience working with Philips telemetry monitoring systems
