Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead our ICU/ITCU (Intensive Care/Intermediate & Transitional Care Unit) team. The Nurse Manager will oversee daily nursing operations, staff management, patient care quality, staffing, regulatory compliance, and budget performance while collaborating closely with the Director of Nursing and medical staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the Director of Nursing to develop and implement unit goals and evaluate progress.
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing administration and medical staff.
  • Develop staffing plans and schedules to maintain appropriate staffing levels and skill mix.
  • Review vacation and holiday schedules and ensure adequate staff coverage.
  • Approve overtime and arrange coverage for absent staff when necessary.
  • Select, hire, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff.
  • Initiate disciplinary actions and participate in recommendations for promotions and salary increases.
  • Ensure safe, professional patient care and compliance with nursing standards.
  • Identify clinical and educational needs and support staff competency development.
  • Conduct meetings and in-services to promote effective patient care management.
  • Review admission, patient management, and discharge protocols for regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor compliance with policies and implement changes when needed.
  • Oversee Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement programs and follow-up actions.
  • Prepare and provide reports related to utilization, credentialing, scheduling, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with annual budget development and monitor unit performance throughout the year.
  • Promote efficient and cost-effective use of nursing resources.
  • Maintain departmental policies, procedures, safety standards, environmental standards, and infection-control practices.
  • Identify gaps in policies and procedures and assist in developing appropriate updates.
  • Serve as a clinical and management resource for nursing staff.
  • Maintain professionalism, respect, flexibility, and excellent customer service.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing school
  • Current New Jersey RN license
  • 2 years of critical care experience required
  • 2 years of supervisory/management experience required
  • Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement principles
  • Strong clinical nursing skills and expertise
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Required Certifications
  • BLS – American Heart Association
  • ACLS – American Heart Association
  • IV Therapy Certification
  • Registered Nurse – NJ License
Physical Requirements
  • Work in nursing offices and patient-care areas.
  • Frequent interaction with staff, patients, and families.
  • Ability to respond to emergency or crisis situations.
  • May be required to lift, position, push, or transfer patients.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of a clinical nursing environment.
