Contract | Travel | Full-Time | Days | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | 36 Hours/Week Guaranteed | 13-Week Assignment | Projected Start: 08/24/2026
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 30-bed Neurosurgical and Neurological Intensive Care Unit for patients including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, post-op craniotomy, seizures, encephalopathy, and neurologic tumors
- Perform comprehensive and thorough neurological assessments, including management of hemodynamically unstable and mechanically ventilated patients
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including Alaris Pumps, Arctic Sun, Prismax, EV1000, and Neuroptics Pupillometer
- Document and manage patient care using Epic EMR
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 depending on acuity
- Float to other inpatient areas as needed when home unit is at low census; work every other weekend
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Demonstrated experience caring for hemodynamically unstable and mechanically ventilated patients
- Strong comprehensive assessment and neurological assessment skills
- Must pass required EKG test prior to placement
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Pupillometer, External Ventricular Drain (EVD), and ICP waveform management
- Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
- Proficiency with Epic EMR
