Travel Nurse RN - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care in Downey, CA

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an ICU/CCU setting, managing complex, critically ill patients including those with multi-system organ failure, CVA/acute stroke, and chronic/acute renal failure
• Manage and titrate cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade
• Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs and dysrhythmia interpretation and management; manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and access ports
• Support ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, suctioning (ETT/NT), interpretation of ABGs, and assist with BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Administer blood products, procedural sedation, emergency medications, and IV insulin protocols; assist with chest tube insertion/removal and manage surgical wounds with drains/wound vac
• May float to DOU, Telemetry, or Med-Tele as needed; every other weekend work expected

Required Qualifications

• Valid California RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 3 years of ICU/CCU experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, MAB or VIP, and NIHSS — copies must be included with submission
• Epic EMR proficiency required
• Advanced EKG exam required prior to start: must score 80% or higher (two pre-start attempts permitted; one onsite attempt only — assignment will be canceled if the onsite exam is failed)
• Must be willing to work holidays; no time off requests during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 3 days RTO for the duration of the contract — all RTO must be submitted at time of submittal and cannot be modified after submission

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with FloTrac/Vigileo hemodynamic monitoring
• Proficiency with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun management
• Experience with infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE protocols
• Phlebotomy skills and experience starting IVs
