Travel Nurse RN - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care in Downey, CA

Perform and assist with procedures including arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, accessing ports, chest tube assistance, wound vac care, and phlebotomy; adhere to infection prevention and isolation/PPE protocols. Must pass an Advanced EKG exam (80% or higher); exam consists of 20 questions (17 rhythm strips and 3 general questions), timed at 45 minutes — two attempts permitted prior to start, one onsite attempt only.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an ICU/CCU setting, with possible float to DOU, Telemetry, or Med Tele units
• Manage critically ill patients including those with multi-system organ failure, CVA/acute stroke, and chronic/acute renal failure
• Operate and interpret hemodynamic monitoring systems including FloTrac/Vigileo; interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade
• Manage ventilated patients including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP assistance, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), suctioning (ETT/NT), and interpretation of ABGs

Required Qualifications

• Valid California RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/CCU experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, MAB or VIP, NIHSS
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system required
• Must pass an Advanced EKG exam (80% or higher); exam consists of 20 questions (17 rhythm strips and 3 general questions), timed at 45 minutes — two attempts permitted prior to start, one onsite attempt only
• Local candidates are welcome and accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun management
• Experience with procedural sedation administration and IV insulin protocols
• Familiarity with surgical wound care including drains and wound vac
