Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a 6-bed ICU with a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses including STEMI, third-degree heart block, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, COVID, and influenza
Manage and titrate vasoactive and critical care drips including Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin, Levophed, vasopressin, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, and Neo-Synephrine
Provide care for patients on ventilators, temporary pacemakers, balloon pumps, BiPAPs, and hemodynamic monitoring devices
Review and sign off on telemetry monitor strips three times per shift in coordination with monitor technicians
Participate in team conferences on day shift as required
Float to areas such as Med/Surg, ED, or behavioral health when applicable based on candidate experience
Required Qualifications
Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience
BLS certification required
ACLS certification required
Demonstrated competency with ventilator management, temporary pacemakers, balloon pumps, hemodynamic monitoring, BiPAPs, and drip titration
Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate adjustment
Preferred Experience / Skills
PALS certification preferred
NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
Experience with respiratory therapy equipment ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
Prior experience in Med/Surg, Emergency Department, or behavioral health settings (relevant to float eligibility)
