Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a 16-bed Medical ICU setting, managing a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio (occasionally 1:3)
Titrate vasoactive and sedation drips including vasopressors and sedation agents (e.g., levophed, neosynephrine, cardene, precedex, propofol)
Manage and troubleshoot ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP in coordination with Respiratory Therapy
Read and verify cardiac monitor strips using Draeger telemetry monitors in collaboration with centralized monitor technicians
Care for patients with diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke, MI, DKA, PE, STEMI, and atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response
Float to lower levels of care including PCU and Med/Surg as needed; orientation provided for float units
Required Qualifications
Active RN licensure
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
Hands-on ICU experience including management of drips, mechanical ventilators, and BiPAP
Ability to pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
Compliance with facility fingernail policy: artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
Preferred Experience / Skills
Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience
Previous travel nursing experience
PALS and TNCC certifications
