Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in an acute care setting serving med/surg through ICU-level patients within a team-based care model
- Perform procedures including IV starts, central venous line and arterial line management, Foley catheter insertion, EKG monitoring, and wound care
- Operate and monitor unit equipment including IV pumps, SCDs, glucometers, wound vacs, and feeding pumps; document all care using Cerner EMR
- Participate in daily interdisciplinary team meetings with physicians, case management, pharmacy, and PT/OT to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
- Maintain appropriate patient ratios (Stepdown/ICU 2–4:1; Med-Surg 5–6:1) while adapting to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Float to TCU as needed and adhere to weekend rotation schedule per the staffing matrix
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
- BLS certification required prior to start
- ACLS certification required (must be completed prior to end of orientation)
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, multi-acuity environment
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior ICU or Stepdown/PCU experience strongly preferred
- Minimum 1 year of med/surg experience preferred
- Familiarity with Pyxis medication dispensing systems
