Job Summary

Join a dynamic critical care team in Springfield, Massachusetts, as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Float Registered Nurse. This role supports a 32-bed unit licensed for both Medical Intensive Care (MICU) and Neuro Critical Care (NCCU) patients. The unit manages a diverse patient population, including those with sepsis, end-stage renal disease (ESRD), acute kidney injury (AKI) requiring continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT/CVVH), post-cardiac arrest care, and respiratory failure.

As an ICU Float RN, you will provide comprehensive, high-acuity care across various critical care and intermediate care settings, including the Medical ICU, Surgical ICU (SICU), and Intermediate Care (IMC) units. Patient ratios are typically 1:2, with 1:1 assignments for the highest acuity cases, ensuring focused and quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert nursing care to critically ill and complex medical/surgical patients.
  • Manage patients requiring advanced interventions such as mechanical ventilation, CRRT/CVVH, and post-cardiac arrest protocols.
  • Perform comprehensive neurological assessments and manage neurocritical care patients.
  • Float to and provide care in Medical ICU, Surgical ICU (SICU), and Intermediate Care (IMC) units as assigned.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Ensure patient safety and adherence to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in an acute care ICU setting, or 1 year of experience in a Level 1 ICU.
  • Must reside outside a 90-mile radius from the facility.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience specifically within a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) setting.
Skills & Competencies
  • Clinical Skills: Advanced critical care assessment, ventilator management, CRRT/CVVH operation, cardiac monitoring, neurological assessment, medication administration, emergency response protocols.
  • Equipment: Proficient with ventilators, CRRT machines, cardiac monitors, and various IV pumps.
  • Soft Skills: Strong critical thinking, adaptability, excellent communication (verbal and written), teamwork, ability to manage high-acuity patient loads, and effective problem-solving.
