ICU Nurse Registered Nurse Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an ICU setting License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: - Previous charge experience is preferred - Travel experience required - Experience with charting systems, specifically Epic Description: The ICU Nurse may float to Progressive Care and Medical Surgical units as needed. 48 hours preferred, will consider 36/48 alternating. The nurse will be responsible for providing critical care to patients in a fast-paced environment. Duties include managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and failure, mechanical ventilation, and administering emergency medications. The nurse should be skilled in the management of arterial lines, central lines, and IV sedation protocols. Communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is essential for optimal patient care. Candidate must be able to interpret arterial blood gases and manage dysrhythmias effectively. Infection prevention and adherence to isolation precautions are fundamental to the role. The nurse will also assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion and lumbar drain management. Participation in rapid response and code situations is a critical responsibility. The role requires adaptability to different team dynamics and patient needs across multiple units.
