Must-Have:
Candidates must have at least 2 years of ICU experience.
Candidates must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
Candidates must have experience with ventilators.
Candidates must be willing to float to other facilities if needed.
Description:
The unit has 8 beds and provides care to a general medical/surgical population.
Common diagnoses include stable CVA post TPA, respiratory failure, manual proning, COPD, CHF, and DKA.
The nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:2.
Charge nurses generally do not take patients but may provide break relief.
There are no nurse aides in the ICU.
Weekend coverage is required every other weekend.
Holidays are rotated among core staff.
Scrub color is navy, with under shirts permitted in navy, white, or black.
Scrub jackets are optional but must also be navy.
The facility offers 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy services.
Self-scheduling is utilized, with schedules published four weeks in advance.
Nurses may be placed on call if not needed in the department.
Floating can occur to other facilities.
The facility utilizes telemedicine for consults.
Charting is done using an electronic medical record system.
No IV team is available; nurses will manage IV medication administration.
Prior experience in an ICU setting is required as well as the ability to manage complex patient needs.
