Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team in Elmira, New York. This critical role involves providing specialized care to adult patients experiencing life-threatening illnesses and injuries, requiring advanced monitoring and interventions.
The successful candidate will work within a dynamic healthcare environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. This position offers an opportunity to leverage your critical care expertise in a challenging yet rewarding setting, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Monitor and interpret complex physiological data, including hemodynamic parameters, cardiac rhythms, and ventilator settings.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate dosage and timely delivery.
- Manage and maintain various medical devices, such as ventilators, arterial lines, central venous catheters, and IV pumps.
- Respond to medical emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions, including advanced cardiac life support.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, residents, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and their families about their condition, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records and documentation.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as an RN in an acute care Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification.
- Previous travel nursing experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in critical care assessment and intervention techniques.
- Expertise in ventilator management and respiratory support.
- Strong knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring and vasoactive drip titration.
- Competence in EKG interpretation and arrhythmia management.
